Global in scope·An enduring case

The Mercator projection, ideal for navigation, wildly inflates land near the poles, so generations of classroom maps showed Greenland rivalling Africa, which is fourteen times larger. Every flat map must distort something; the choice of which distortion to normalise taught geography and geopolitics at once.
