One singer, eight hours, no script

From East Asia·An enduring case

Korean pansori transmits epic narratives through a single singer and drummer over many hours, with each master's version differing in wording, ornament and emphasis. Recordings preserve performances rather than the work. Asking for the authoritative text of a pansori is asking a question the form does not have an answer to.
